Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, plus the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture becomes publicly visible alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the site, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

Comment cookies: If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email and website in cookies. These last for one year and make it easier for you to comment again.
Login page: A temporary cookie determines if your browser accepts cookies; it contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
Login session: When you log in, we set cookies to save your login information and screen-display choices. Login cookies last two days; screen-options cookies last a year. Selecting “Remember Me” keeps you logged in for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.
Editor cookie: Editing or publishing an article stores an additional cookie in your browser. It contains only the post ID of the article you edited and expires after one day.

Comments: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can automatically recognize and approve follow-up comments instead of holding them in moderation.
Registered users: For users who register on our site (if any), we store the personal information they provide in their profile. All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you may request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you provided. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we must keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
